Abstract
L’art-thérapie gestaltiste est une approche permettant notamment de travailler les polarités, c’est-à-dire de faciliter le processus d’intégration des caractéristiques opposées de la personnalité. Cet article, à la fois théorique et pratique, vise à proposer différentes façons de faciliter ce processus en art-thérapie, dans ses différentes phases. La notion de polarité est d’abord définie selon une perspective gestaltiste. Ensuite, les six différentes phases du processus (1. la confluence, 2. la polarisation, 3. l’opposition, 4. l’impasse, 5. la négociation et 6. la résolution) sont décrites et illustrées au moyen de deux exemples de cas tirés de la pratique professionnelle d’une des auteures en art-thérapie. Le travail des polarités n’est toutefois pas recommandé en contexte de dangerosité et il importe pour l’art-thérapeute gestaltiste de s’adapter au rythme et à l’unicité du processus de chaque individu. Cet article procure des informations pertinentes pour soutenir les art-thérapeutes dans leurs interventions afin de favoriser le développement de la conscience de soi chez leurs clients par l’intégration des polarités en art-thérapie.
