Abstract

La présente étude, de type quasi expérimental, visait à évaluer l’effet d’une intervention à facettes multiples sur les pratiques d’hygiène des mains des patients recevant de la chimiothérapie. L’hygiène des mains des patients et le nombre d’infections après l’intervention éducative ont été mesurées au moment de l’admission à l’hôpital et du congé subséquent, pour les groupes expérimental et témoin à l’étude. Dans le groupe expérimental, la pratique de l’hygiène des mains était meilleure que pour le groupe témoin, en ce qui concerne la perception (p = 0,0001), l’exécution (p = 0,0001), la raison de la non-adhésion (p = 0,0002) et le score total pour l’observance de la pratique (p = 0,0001). Aucune différence notable dans le nombre d’infections (p = 1) n’a été observée entre les deux groupes. Le déploiement de l’intervention à multiples facettes a augmenté le taux d’adhésion des patients à l’hygiène des mains dans le groupe expérimental, mais aucune diminution des infections n’a été notée chez les patients hospitalisés. Les conclusions facilitent la conception et la mise en place d’une intervention à multiples facettes afin d’augmenter le lavage des mains chez les patients.
