Abstract

Introdução: A lesão medular espinhal (LME) pode ser definida como qualquer dano ocorrido na estrutura medular, acarretando sequelas incapacitantes afetando a sua funcionalidade. Um melhor desempenho na participação social poderá ser alcançado por esses indivíduos através da tecnologia assistiva, como a cadeira de rodas (CR), sendo essa, na maioria das vezes, o principal dispositivo de mobilidade. Assim, é importante identificar o nível de desempenho na participação social em indivíduos com LME e a satisfação do usuário no uso da CR. Objetivo: Identificar o nível de desempenho na participação social em indivíduos com LME e a satisfação do usuário no uso da CR. Método: Trata-se de um estudo analítico transversal quantitativo com 24 indivíduos com diagnóstico clínico de LME que recebiam tratamento em um hospital de reabilitação. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: a anamnese, Avaliação de Hábitos de Vida (LIFE-H 3.1) e Avaliação da Satisfação do Usuário com a Tecnologia Assistiva de Quebec (Quest 2.0). Resultado: A amostra do estudo foi composta por 24 indivíduos com LME, sendo 83,3% do sexo masculino, 34,1 ± 9,0 anos, sendo a maioria classificados como AIS (ASIA Impairment Scale) A (54,1%). Já o LIFE - H 3.1 (tiveram 9 pessoas) tendo os domínios relacionados às atividades de vida diária (AVD`s) uma média de desempenho em 7,65 (± 1,256) e a satisfação em 3,77 (± 0,534) e os domínios relacionados às atividades instrumentais de vida diária (AIVD`s) teve uma média de desempenho em 6,42 (± 2,229) e a satisfação 3,69 (± 0,669). E por último o Quest 2.0 teve 24 participantes onde apontou que os usuários estão mais ou menos satisfeitos com a CR e o serviço de entrega e manutenção da CR foi pouco satisfatório. Conclusão: As evidências mostraram uma insatisfação com o serviço de entrega e manutenção da CR e piores desempenhos e satisfação nos domínios relacionados às AIVD`s e a participação social na comunidade.
