La investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar los factores asociados al deterioro cognitivo en adultos mayores que acudieron al Centro Materno Infantil Juan Pablo II. Se trató de un estudio con enfoque cuantitativo, analítico con diseño casos y controles, retrospectivo. La muestra estuvo conformada por 213 adultos mayores usuarios del Centro Materno Infantil. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron el Test de evaluación cognitiva Montreal MOCA; un cuestionario para el registro de factores sociodemográfico y estilos de vida; y una ficha de recolección donde se registró el peso y talla de los participantes. Los resultados mostraron que 116 adultos mayores (54.5%) de la muestra presentaron deterioro cognitivo. Los factores sociodemográficos que actuaron como riesgo fueron la edad mayor de 69 años (OR=2.25), el sexo masculino (OR=2.37), el estado civil viudo (OR =1.49) y divorciado (OR=2.53); y la procedencia de la Sierra (OR=0.38) y de la Selva (OR=0.40) actuó como factor protector. En el caso de los estilos de vida, la actividad física (OR=0.35) representa un factor protector. Por lo tanto, se concluye que tanto los factores sociodemográficos como los de estilo de vida se encuentran asociados estadísticamente al deterioro cognitivo.
