From Silos to Support: Lived Experiences of Youth and Families in Cross-Sectoral Collaboration Through TRiP (The Regina Intersectoral Partnership)

Abstract
Youth in vulnerable contexts face barriers to accessing support due to fragmented care systems. This study explores youth and caregivers’ experiences with TRiP, a cross-sectoral collaboration initiative aimed at improving service accessibility and coordination. We conducted 26 interviews (youth n = 13, caregivers n = 13), reviewed documents, and observed key meetings. A grounded theory analysis identified three key themes: (1) barriers to initial engagement; (2) TRiP’s positive impact on youth well-being through holistic case management; and (3) persistent structural barriers, especially for youth with disabilities. While TRiP fosters better outcomes, challenges such as stigma, limited youth participation in decision-making, and systemic barriers persist.
