Le mardi 13 décembre 2022, le corps de la Cigale a été retrouvé. La Fourmi a immédiatement été arrêtée, suspecte dans la mort de la chanteuse. Le dossier de l’instruction a été confié à de jeunes collégiens en classe de cinquième (12 ans). En appelant la Fourmi à la barre en cours de français, nous nous sommes demandée si le jeu de l’instruction permet de simplifier une œuvre littéraire patrimoniale difficile pour engager et motiver les collégiens, en l’occurrence la fable La Cigale et la Fourmi de La Fontaine, et d’accompagner la lecture, en favorisant sa compréhension et son appropriation. À travers l’étude de soixante-quatorze cas singuliers qui ont expérimenté le même dispositif la même année avec le même enseignant, nous avons constaté, d’une part, que le jeu de l’instruction séduit les apprenants et qu’il les dispose, d’autre part, à rencontrer un texte dépaysant qu’ils vont ainsi mieux comprendre et s’approprier. La rencontre littéraire permet alors de se questionner soi-même et de faire naître une réflexion singulière.
