Abstract
Introducción: En rinoseptoplastías reconstructivas, el injerto costal es una opción efectiva, aunque uno de sus problemas es la deformación o "warping".Técnicas como el corte transversal de la sincondrosis costal 6-7ª buscan reducir este riesgo, pero su uso puede limitarse si la calcificación supera el 25%, especialmente cuando se asocia a un patrón central.Objetivo: Describir la presencia de sincondrosis en población chilena y determinar su grado y patrón de calcificación.Material y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio de corte transversal de tomografías computadas (TC) de tórax de 100 pacientes entre 18 y 99 años, realizadas en el Hospital del Salvador.Se describen variables demográficas, presencia y longitud de sincondrosis 6-7ª derecha e izquierda, su grado y patrón de calcificación.Resultados: Todas las TC presentan sincondrosis costal 6-7ª bilateral, con una longitud promedio de 15,77 mm (derecha) y 15,78 mm (izquierda).Un 73% presentaba algún grado de calcificación, sin diferencias significativas por sexo.Un 13% presentó un patrón de calcificación central en ambos sexos y un 64% presentó un patrón periférico.Conclusión: Las TC de tórax son útiles para determinar la osificación y longitud del cartílago costal, facilitando la selección de la costilla.Aunque estudios previos han sugerido una mayor frecuencia de calcificaciones en mujeres y mayor edad, en esta muestra no existió relación significativa con el sexo.Además, la presencia de un patrón predominantemente periférico, da cuenta de que esta una alternativa confiable y ampliamente disponible a utilizar en reconstrucción nasal en población chilena.
