Abstract
Dans de nombreux pays, les immigrés chinois et leurs descendants sont réputés pour leur propension à l’entrepreneuriat. Privilégiant une approche interactive et multifactorielle inspirée du modèle de Waldinger, nous analysons, à partir de soixante entretiens de Chinois ethniques de Paris, Bruxelles et Mont réal, l’étape de la création d’entreprise. Pour ce faire, nous nous basons sur les caractéristiques personnelles de nos répondants, les motivations avancées par ceux-ci et les moyens mis en œuvre afin de mobiliser les ressources financières nécessaires à l’ouverture de l’entreprise. Nous établissons ensuite des profils d’entrepreneurs à partir de trois oppositions de caractéristiques observées, à savoir entre l’entrepreneur transplanté et le néo-entrepreneur, entre l’entrepreneur par défaut et par choix, entre l’entrepreneur communautaire et individualiste. La diversité des profils et des parcours observés dans les trois villes, lesquels se rapprochent tantôt d’un modèle explicatif tantôt d’un autre, confirme la pertinence d’une perspective théorique multifactorielle, qui mérite toutefois d’être affinée selon le cas, et d’une approche constructiviste du phénomène.
