Cette contribution s'efforce de dcrire ce que, dans le regard que porte le Qubec sur la France et inversement chacun retient.Le premier volet porte sur l'imaginaire canadien franais de l'origine, formateur de l'identit qubcoise, partir d'un pass aurol de splendeur.Au regard valorisant pour la culture franaise rpond une vision valorisante de soi-mme, qui cimente la trilogie fidlit, persvrance et droit la terre.Cependant, le constat historique accablant est galement source d'amertume, sensible dans les textes fondateurs, mais la France demeure une rfrence, mme si elle est parfois irritante.Le deuxime volet, s'ouvre avec l'imaginaire franais de la dcouverte auquel se greffent l'autosatisfaction et la condescendance jusqu' ce que la Deuxime Guerre mondiale et ses lendemains tablissent des rapports France-Qubec sur un pied d'galit. Mre, je ne suis pas de ceux qui ont eu le bonheur d'tre bercs sur tes genoux.Ce sont de bien lointains chos qui m'ont familiaris avec ton nom et ta gloire.Ta belle langue, j'ai appris la balbutier loin de toi.J'ose cependant, aujourd'hui, apporter une nouvelle page hroque ton histoire dj si belle et si chevaleresque.Cette page est crite plus avec le coeur qu'avec la plume.Je ne te demande par, en retour, un embrassement maternel pour ton enfant, hlas !oubli.Mais permets-moi au moins de baiser, avec attendrissement et fiert, le bas de cette robe glorieuse qu'il aurait tant aim voir flotter auprs de son berceau.
