Sous la direction de Alain Kerlan et Denis Simard L’hommage rendu à Paul Ricœur en clôture de l’ultime Biennale internationale de l’éducation et de la formation voulait être plus qu’un hommage au philosophe : une prospective, à l’intersection d’une des grandes pensées contemporaines et des questions vives de l’éducation. Cet ouvrage en est le fruit. Il n’a pas d’autre ambition que de souligner la singularité du recours philosophique qu’est devenue l’œuvre de Paul Ricœur dans le champ de l’éducation, la singularité de la présence de cette œuvre dans la pensée éducative contemporaine. Il se compose des contributions venues des deux rives qui nous séparent, les unes de France, les autres du Québec. L’ensemble dirige notre regard vers l’œuvre ouverte de Paul Ricœur, précisément parce que la question de l’éducation comme question philosophique y est la clé de cette ouverture. La pensée éducative de Paul Ricœur, c’est peut-être d’abord un certain style philosophique, une position de pensée « modeste », mais ne cédant rien de l’exigence philosophique. Ce style, c’était aussi celui de Jacky Beillerot, fondateur de la Biennale, trop tôt disparu. Publier aujourd’hui, en le consacrant à Paul Ricœur, un ouvrage issu de l’ultime Biennale est aussi une façon de lui rendre hommage et de faire vivre son héritage.
