Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Conclusion: L’augmentation du VE semble être un meilleur élément des améliorations des CP que l’augmentation de la force maximale (1RM) chez les femmes obèses postménopausées à la suite d’un programme d’entraînement en musculation.||Abstract: Aging is a concern in almost every countries around the world. In Quebec, people aged above 65 years old represented 13% of the population, in 2001. In 2026, it is estimated that elderly will represent 24% of the population. In Canada, 43.4% of elderly are living with at least one incapacity related to physical or mental or health problem. The most often reported physical incapacities are associated with mobility and agility. Resistance training has been associated with improved physical capacity (PC). However, no study has yet investigated the association between PC, maximal strength (1RM) and training volume (TV) after a resistance training program. Goal: To quantify the association between TV, 1RM and PC. Method: 36 women aged between 57 and 72 years old were randomly assigned to one of the 3 treatment groups for 12 weeks [1-resistance training (RT, n= 12) 2-resistance training and caloric restriction (RT+CR, n= 12) and 3-control group (C, n= 12)]. Measure: Physical capacity tests (picking up a penny from the floor, walking 15 meters at fast and normal pace, walk backwards on 6 meters, climbing a set of 18 stairs, lifting a 10-lb box and putting it on a shelf, one-leg stand on both leg, 6-minutes walk test, one leg squat with progressive charge and 30-second chair stand), 1RM and TV (sum of series X sum of repetitions X load), body composition [lean mass (LM) et fat mass (FM)] by DXA. Result: Significant increases in TV and 1RM were observed in both exercise groups after 12 weeks (p< 0.0001). Improvements in PC were similar for RT both exercise groups. 1RM and TV were correlated at baseline (r= 0.75 p< 0.001). Except for the RT+CR group, changes in LM were correlated with changes in walking at fast pace (r= 0.47, p< 0.05). Baseline FM and LM were not correlated with changes in PC. Also, increases in 1RM were not associated with changes in PC. However, increases in TV were correlated with changes on the walking test at normal and fast pace, lifting a 10-lb box and putting it on a shelf and one leg squat test with progressive charge (p values between 0.05 and 0.001). Conclusion: Increase of TV seems to be a better predictor of changes in PC than the 1RM in obese postmenauposal women following a resistance training program.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
