Abstract
L’Agence metropolitaine de transport (AMT) est une agence gouvernementale a vocation metropolitaine dont la mission consiste a accroitre les services de transport collectif afin d’ameliorer l’efficacite des deplacements des personnes dans la region metropolitaine de Montreal. Elle a aussi comme mandat de developper, de consolider et de completer le reseau metropolitain de transport collectif et le reseau de trains de banlieue. Le projet de service rapide par bus (SRB) sur le boulevard Pie-IX s'inscrit dans le cadre global de planification de l'AMT quant au developpement d'un reseau metropolitain d'axes majeurs de transport collectif qui desservirait les usagers metropolitains a destination de Montreal ainsi que les usagers internes de la ville centre. le projet d'amenagement d’un SRB sur l'axe Pie-IX vise a repondre aux principaux objectifs suivants : Offrir des conditions de circulation securitaires pour l’ensemble des usagers de l’axe (pietons, cyclistes, usagers du transport collectif et conducteurs et passagers de vehicules particuliers); Offrir un service de qualite superieure pour les usagers du transport collectif; Offrir une frequence de services des autobus sur l’axe plus elevee; Ameliorer les temps de parcours des autobus; Ameliorer l’environnement urbain de l’axe et les conditions pour les pietons; Valoriser le domaine public par un amenagement de qualite; Soutenir le developpement urbain a Montreal et a Laval; Implanter un mode de perception avant l’embarquement dans l’autobus.
