Cet ouvrage se propose d'explorer a travers diverses configurations politiques, sociales et educatives, les modes d'integration des groupes dits minoritaires. Le terme de minorite designe un groupe de personnes differant, par la race, la religion, la culture, la langue, la nationalite ou l'ethnie, du groupe plus nombreux dans lequel il vit, et defini comme tel par le groupe majoritaire. La variete des situations que nous abordons ici ne permet pas d'arreter une seule definition de minorites , tributaire du contexte, de son histoire et de ses enjeux actuels. L'integration des minorites sera abordee dans les pays d'Europe centrale et orientale en pleine (re)negociation de leurs identites - alterites; dans des societes d'accueil, Canada, Suisse et Grece, ou l'apport migratoire remet en question, dans tous les secteurs de la vie publique, les equilibres traditionnels; dans les societes en mutation, comme dans les pays d'Afrique subsaharienne, les pays andins (Colombie et Equateur) et au Bresil, ou le defi lance par les situations des minorites convoque l'engagement social et politique au sein de l'educatif. Les relations entre majorite et minorites sont habituellement conflictuelles mais de ces rapports de force peuvent emerger des accommodements, des formes d'acculturation ou de cohabitation: ce sont ces nouveaux espaces interculturels, leurs conditions d'emergence et leurs modes de construction qui sont investigues ici.
