De Stichting Mergor in Mosam heeft plannen voor een waardestellend onderzoek naar de resten van een vermoedelijke Romeinse brug bij Zuilichem. Deze brug werd oorspronkelijk ontdekt in 1895 tijdens werkzaamheden door arbeiders van een steenfabriek. Na de vondst werden de resten, bestaande uit houten palen, gemeten en gedocumenteerd door W. Pleyte van het Rijksmuseum voor Oudheden. Pleyte publiceerde zijn bevindingen en vermoedde een Romeinse oorsprong, analoog aan beschrijvingen van tijdelijke bruggen door Caesar in de Gallische oorlogen. Echter, na een aanvankelijke interesse, raakte de exacte locatie van de brug in vergetelheid. In 1969 bracht G. Koppert de vondst opnieuw onder de aandacht, wat leidde tot een hernieuwde zoektocht onder leiding van Jan Bervaes. Ondanks de uitdagingen, zoals onduidelijkheid over de exacte locatie en de hoge kosten van opgravingen, blijft de site van belang. Mergor in Mosam beoogt nu de resten te lokaliseren met geofysische meettechnieken zoals grondradar, om de brugresten nauwkeuriger te positioneren en verdere bemonsteringstechnieken te vergemakkelijken. Dit onderzoek kan nieuwe inzichten bieden over de Romeinse activiteit in het Nederlandse rivierengebied en is mogelijk verbonden met historische gebeurtenissen zoals de Bataafse Opstand. De resultaten van het onderzoek zijn echter nog onzeker, en de hypothese van een Romeinse oorsprong is nog niet bevestigd.
