However, measurement properties of this questionnaire have not been evaluated in stroke survivors in African francophone countries where there is a lack of context-validated outcome measures. The aim of this study was to evaluate the construct validity and test-retest reliability of a Benin-adapted French version of the IPAQ Long form (IPAQ-Benin) in patients with stroke in Benin.Subjects and Method: Preliminary analyses were based on 38 stroke patients (27 males; mean age: 55.8u00b111.6 years old) recruited in Benin, a West-African country. In addition to a 7-day activity monitoring using a wrist-worn device, participants completed the interview-based IPAQ-Benin. They also completed ACTIVLIM-Stroke and ABILOCO-BENIN, two Rasch-built questionnaires previously validated in Benin for stroke-related activity limitations and locomotor ability, respectively. The IPAQ-Benin was completed twice over two days for test-retest reliability that was assessed through intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC). For construct validity, Pearson correlation coefficients (r) were calculated between IPAQ-Benin scores and 7-day steps, ACTIVLIM-Stroke and ABILOCO-BENIN scores.Results: The IPAQ-Benin showed excellent correlation with daily steps (r=0.94; p <.001) and moderate correlations with ACTIVLIM-Stroke (r=0.53; p <.001) and ABILOCO-Benin (r=0.50; p <.001). IPAQ-Benin demonstrated excellent test-retest reliability (ICC=0.99; CI95%: .98-.99; p <.001).Conclusion: These preliminary results suggest that IPAQ-Benin is a valid and reliable measure of physical activity in stroke patients.
