Abstract
Le programme ISOPOLIS Gamma, engagé à l’initiative de la société civile réunionnaise et porté par l’institut de recherche et de développement (IRD), s’est déroulé de juin 2021 à janvier 2023. Il se distingue très tôt par une volonté de construire une alliance entre la société civile et la recherche, dans un territoire marqué par la méfiance envers la science et les chercheurs. Cette volonté se heurte cependant à de nombreux malentendus, qui représentent à la fois des obstacles au déroulement, mais ont aussi parfois été des occasions fertiles pour les acteurs de trouver leur place, et pour l’agenda d’ISOPOLIS de progresser. Ces malentendus ont porté notamment : sur le concept de recherche interventionnelle, sur la portée opérationnelle des travaux scientifiques, sur l’expérimentation, ainsi que sur l’éthos scientifique et l’engagement des chercheurs. En s’appuyant sur l’évaluation embarquée du projet et le travail réflexif engagé par plusieurs de ses actrices clés, cette communication passe en revue certains des malentendus ayant structuré le programme ISOPOLIS. Ce faisant, elle vise à mettre en lumière les enjeux de traduction (des mots, des concepts, des pratiques) qui sous-tendent un projet tel que celui-ci, et ce qu’ils disent du rapport des citoyens à la science, ainsi que du rapport des chercheurs au changement sociétal.
