Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Key to species of Eubulus Kirsch in the United States and Canada 1. Size larger (4.8–6.5 mm); frons foveate; eyes separated by almost width of base of rostrum in frontal view; area above each eye with oblique subcarinate ridge; femora each with two distinct teeth on inner margin, basal (proximal) tooth low and rounded................................... E. parochus (Herbst) 1 9. Size smaller (2.8–4.9 mm); frons not foveate; eyes separated by half to almost width of base of rostrum in frontal view; oblique subcarinate ridge above each eye very low or lacking; femora each with two small indistinct teeth on inner margin, hind femora only with small single tooth, or margin simple, lacking tooth..................................................................... 2 2. Pronotum with median tuft of suberect to erect broad scales (may be abraded); eyes separated by about two-thirds to almost width of rostrum at base; femora each with two very small, indistinct teeth on inner margin; male first ventrite longitudinally concave medially, last ventrite of both sexes with uniformly appressed, broad scales, scales lighter in color laterally on ventrites 3–5; aedeagus subparallel throughout basal one half of length, internal sac with no obvious denticles; tergite VIII of female broadly rounded, apical margin finely dentate........................................ E. bisignatus (Say) 2 9. Pronotum lacking median tuft of suberect or erect broad scales; eyes separated by about half width of rostrum at base, eyes slightly converging dorsally; front and middle femora each lacking teeth along inner margin, hind femora with single small tooth; male first ventrite uniformly convex, ventrite 5 with fine, golden, bifid scales each directed towards middle of posterior margin; females with all ventrites with broad appressed scales uniform in form and color; aedeagus constricted near base, internal sac with dentate longitudinal fold throughout length; tergite VIII of female narrowed, apical margin with 4 large denticles.................. E. obliquefasciatus (Boheman)

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
