Esta meta-análise tem como objetivo avaliar a incidência de delirium pós-operatório (DPO) em pacientes idosos submetidos à anestesia geral, explorando fatores associados à sua ocorrência e impacto. O estudo busca contribuir para o entendimento e a prevenção dessa complicação, comum e grave na população idosa. A pesquisa incluiu estudos observacionais e de coorte que investigaram a prevalência e os fatores de risco para DPO em idosos. Os dados foram extraídos por dois revisores independentes, e o risco de viés foi avaliado com ferramentas como Newcastle-Ottawa. A análise estatística utilizou modelos de efeitos aleatórios no software JASP, com exploração da heterogeneidade e possíveis subgrupos, considerando diferenças nos métodos diagnósticos e nas características dos pacientes. Este trabalho pretende oferecer insights clínicos que auxiliem na implementação de estratégias padronizadas para minimizar a ocorrência de DPO e seus impactos no pós-operatório.
