Abstract
Lasioglossum (Dialictus) griswoldi Gibbs, 2009 Fig. 41 Lasioglossum (Dialictus) griswoldi Gibbs, 2009b: 385, figs 13a–b (holotype, ♀, deposited in BBSL, examined). Diagnosis Females of Lasioglossum griswoldi can be recognized by the characters for the Lasioglossum petrellum species complex (below), in addition to the characters given in the key and the metasomal terga with very narrow rims with long, dense apicolateral fringes (resembling L. cactorum sp. nov. in this respect). They are most similar to L. tuolumnense. Females of L. tuolumnense have the malar space and supraclypeal area shorter, and scutum slightly duller and more densely punctate. In addition, the geographic ranges of these two species are not known to overlap: L. griswoldi is only known from the mountains of Utah and Colorado, while L. tuolumnense is only known from the mountains of California north to British Columbia. Lasioglossum griswoldi differs from all other western red-tailed L. (Dialictus) by 2 fixed substitutions: 198(G) and 327(G). It differs from L. droegei, L. petrellum, and L. tuolumnense by an additional 2 fixed substitutions: 81(T) and 387(C) (Supplementary file 4). Remarks Gibbs (2009b) recorded this species only from Utah. It was recorded from Boulder County, Colorado, as L. aff. griswoldi in Scott et al. (2011). A Boulder County specimen has been examined by the authors and seems identical to the Utah specimens. A few specimens not examined by Gibbs (2009b) from Utah have the metasoma completely black, but are otherwise morphologically identical. These might be a distinct species, but without additional evidence, it seems best to consider them no more than a dark variant.
