Abstract
46. Theognete schaubeli Anderson, new species (Figures 135, 171, 206) Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 2.64–3.06mm; female, 2.87–3.62mm. Width, male, 1.52–1.85mm; female, 1.63–1.97mm. Pronotum moderately cordate, virtually impunctate or with punctures very fine and shallow, scales sparse, appressed to suberect, apices finely plumose; flanks with shallow sulci composed of contiguous punctures. Elytra with scales sparse, suberect, clavate, linearly arranged on intervals, apices not overlapping. Strial regions lacking vestiture. Posterolateral area of elytra with series of 3–6 subcontiguous punctures. Aedeagus as in Fig. 171. Geographical distribution. México (Chiapas). Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of oak-pine-liquidambar forest and wet oak-pine forest leaf litter at elevations from 1400–1500m. Derivation of specific name. Through his support of the Nature Discovery Fund at the Canadian Museum of Nature, this species is named after Alan W. Schaubel of Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Material examined. 29♂, 29♀♀ (CMNC, CNCI, CWOB, ECOS). Holotype ♂ (CMNC): MÉXICO: Chiapas. Lagunas de Montebello, Cinco Lagos, 1500m, 21.IX.1991, R.
