Fin dalla sua nascita, l'istituzione della Giornata della Liberazione Nazionale (25 aprile 1945) è stata considerata una commemorazione divisiva e molto contestata. Infatti, la natura politica del 25 aprile, nel tempo, e inparticolare a partire dalle elezioni del 1994, ha portato a ideologizzare i valori della Resistenza, sottraendo spazio agli ambiti di riflessione e critica rispetto ai drammatici eventi della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Da questo punto di vista, le orazioni di Monte Sole hanno sempre rispecchiato i mutamenti elencati: tuttavia, nel 2018, l'ordine rituale legato alla celebrazione dei partigiani e dell'antifascismo è stato ribaltato da un inaspettato intervento di Gino Strada che, facendosi portavoce di tutte le vittime civili delle guerre, ha aperto una nuova prospettiva di commemorazione della Resistenza. Attraverso un'etnografia di questo evento, metteremo in luce le strutture latenti che caratterizzano la celebrazione del 25 aprile e mostreremo come l'intervento di Strada abbia sovvertito il rito commemorativo di Monte Sole
