Le Groupe de travail sur la science ouverte s’est vu confier le mandat d’évaluer l’état actuel de la science ouverte à l’Université d’Ottawa et de définir ses objectifs en la matière, en tenant compte de ses pratiques disciplinaires, de sa mission de promotion de la francophonie et de la nécessité d’adopter une approche fondée sur les distinctions dans le cadre des projets menés avec les communautés des Premières Nations, des Métis et des Inuits (Bibliothèque de l’Université d’Ottawa, 2023). Le Groupe de travail sur la science ouverte était coprésidé par Martine Lagacé, vice-rectrice associée à la promotion et au développement de la recherche, et Talia Chung, bibliothécaire en chef et doyenne des bibliothèques, et formé de membres représentant neuf facultés, la Bibliothèque, les Presses de l’Université d’Ottawa et le Collège des chaires de recherche sur le monde francophone, ainsi que d’une doctorante de la Faculté des sciences sociales. En juin 2024, le Groupe de travail a présenté ses recommandations à la Commission de la recherche. Celles-ci visent à faire de l’Université d’Ottawa un chef de file en matière de science ouverte, afin qu’elle reste un établissement de choix pour les collaborations nationales et internationales et qu’elle contribue au progrès de la recherche de pointe ayant des retombées concrètes.
