Scienza e cittadini: Il progetto “Cluster Biodiversità Italia” - Light Talk Speaker: Alessandra Flore (CESAB), Antonio Riontino (UNIBA) Authors: Alessandra Flore (CESAB), Antonio Riontino (UNIBA), Salvatore Coco (UNIPV), Rosalinda Testa (AMP Punta Campanella), Caterina Iacono (AMP Regno di Nettuno), Caterina Matarese (AMP Regno di Nettuno), Carmelo Allegra (MUMA) Il Cluster Biodiversità Italia (CBI) è un network democratico e volontario che unisce enti scientifici e associazioni naturalistiche per promuovere la tutela degli ambienti naturali e la Citizen Science. Dal 2019 il CBI, tra varie iniziative di divulgazione scientifica, coordina la City Nature Challenge (CNC), una competizione internazionale che coinvolge i cittadini nella documentazione della biodiversità urbana ed extraurbana, sia marina che terrestre, estesa a parchi, riserve naturali e zone costiere. L'approccio in stile bioblitz dell'iniziativa si basa su piattaforme digitali come iNaturalist e Natusfera, che consentono di geolocalizzare le osservazioni e identificare le specie grazie a una community web attiva. La metodologia inclusiva ha permesso la partecipazione di un pubblico diversificato: volontari, studenti, categorie protette, appassionati, fotografi naturalisti e famiglie. Questo ha portato a risultati significativi: in sei edizioni sono state raccolte 31.630 osservazioni da più di 600 profili attivi, documentando oltre 3.600 specie. Un quadro, seppur non esaustivo, della ricchezza e abbondanza di specie nel contesto urbano, da Nord a Sud comprese le Isole. L'impatto del progetto è multiforme: ha migliorato in alcune aree la gestione del verde urbano, sensibilizzato gli amministratori locali e fornito dati preziosi alla ricerca scientifica sulla presenza di specie rare e minacciate. Gli obiettivi futuri del CBI comprendono l'ampliamento della rete di città partecipanti, l'implementazione di nuove tecnologie per ottimizzare la raccolta e l'analisi dei dati, e un maggior coinvolgimento di scuole e comunità locali. Il progetto dimostra come l'integrazione tra ricerca scientifica, divulgazione e partecipazione pubblica possa efficacemente contribuire alla tutela della biodiversità nelle aree antropizzate.
