Why this work is in the frame

A frame that forgets how it found something cannot be audited. These are the routes that admitted this work.

aboutThe title or abstract carries a Canadian signal from the geographic lexicon.
no affNo Canadian affiliation: this work is invisible to an affiliation-only frame.
No Canadian affiliation. An affiliation-only frame, the usual design, would never have seen this work. It is one of the works that make the case for inverting the frame.

Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The Lophelia Coral Conservation Area (LCCA) was established in 2004 to protect the only known cold-water coral reef in eastern Canada. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the closure (Beazley et al. 2021), benthic fauna were quantified from underwater images taken in 2003, 2009, and 2015 from each of three different strata: 1) inside the Lophelia reef footprint (LRF; Inside Reef), 2) inside the LCCA but outside of the LRF (Inside Closure), and 3) outside of the LCCA (Outside Closure) (Korabik et al. 2021). In addition, photos and video imagery were collected in 2002, 2007 and in 2018 (Beazley et al. 2019) and are included although they were not analyzed in Beazley et al. (2021). Here we provide the original photos for each of these strata/years in support of future monitoring of this area. Not all of these photos have been analyzed. In 2022 the LCCA was incorporated into the Eastern Canyons Conservation Area (ECCA). Version 3 includes an update to the Photo Archive Metadata to include a column indicating whether the photo was analyzed or not in Beazley et al. (2021). Additionally a spreadsheet of the abundance of each taxon per analyzed photo is included. Taxon names are matched with the images presented in Korabik et al. (2021). Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
