Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This dataset contains greenhouse gas flux measurements, namely:

methane (CH4),

carbon dioxide (CO2), and

nitrous oxide (N2O)

and auxiliary data, including PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation), soil moisture, and soil temperature from manual chamber campaigns at the Stordalen Mire (68.20°N, 19.03°E, 351 m above sea level) in sub-Arctic Sweden in September 2022, May, July, and September 2023, and June, July, and August 2024.

The Stordalen Mire is located within the sporadic permafrost zone, adjacent to Lake Torneträsk. A large portion of the mire consists of a slightly elevated drained area, interspersed with wetter depressions, which are not underlain by permafrost. It is located on the 0°C isotherm, which causes the permafrost in the mire to be sporadic and highly dynamic in nature. As a result of recent years of warming in the area, permafrost has been observed to degrade in many parts of the mire.

More information on Stordalen can be found here:

https://www.icos-sweden.se/abisko-stordalen

https://www.arcticcirc.net/stordalen

Our dataset is grouped into four different microhabitats along a thawing (moisture) gradient from dry to wet: palsa lichen (dry), palsa moss (dry), bog (wet), and fen (wet).

Please refer to our publications:

Triches, N. Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
