El presente trabajo es un análisis de las dificultades de la traducción técnica dentro del ámbito automovilístico partiendo del francés de Francia como lengua de partida y comparándolo con el francés de Canadá y con el español de España. En primer lugar, tras documentarnos acerca del deporte del automovilismo y de los diferentes documentos que emplean los diversos países francófonos, hemos compilado un corpus de textos procedentes de la Fédération Française du Sport Automobile (FFSA) de Francia, de la Canadian Association of Rally Sport (CARS) de Canadá y de la Real Federación Española de Automovilismo (RFEDA) de España. Más tarde, hemos extraído 80 términos técnicos del ámbito y los hemos recogido en una tabla para proceder a su estudio atendiendo a su categoría gramatical. Ello nos ha permitido realizar una comparación terminológica, centrándonos sobre todo en la diferencia diatópica francófona y comprobando de manera paralela su traducción oficial al español. El objetivo es observar el grado de dificultad que se presenta ante el traductor al trabajar con las variantes dentro de una misma lengua en su afán de asegurar una traducción precisa y adecuada al contexto de la lengua y la cultura meta. Finalmente, en las conclusiones, hemos recogido las reflexiones que hemos extraído del análisis terminológico elaborado en nuestra parte práctica.
