Anxiété, tolérance à la détresse et sensibilité à l'anxiété : une intégration du modèle de Zvolensky

Abstract
Ce mémoire a pour objectif de valider un modèle de tolérance à la détresse à cinq composantes et de déterminer si ces composantes sont associées à l’anxiété de participants adultes. Il cherche aussi à établir si la sensibilité à l’anxiété explique en partie l’association entre ces composantes et l’anxiété. Trois cents trente étudiants et employés de l’Université Laval ont été recrutés par courriel en utilisant une liste de distribution. Ceux-ci ont répondu à une série de questionnaires en ligne qui recueillaient des renseignements démographiques de même que des informations sur leur tolérance à la détresse, leur sensibilité à l’anxiété et leur niveau d’anxiété. Les résultats appuient la validité du modèle à cinq composantes et montrent que, bien que ce modèle soit significativement associé à l’anxiété, seules les composantes de tolérance aux états émotionnels négatifs et de tolérance à l’incertitude contribuent à cette association indépendamment des autres composantes du modèle. De plus, la sensibilité à l’anxiété est un médiateur partiel de l’association entre ces deux composantes et l’anxiété. Ce projet soutient l’importance de la tolérance aux états émotionnels négatifs et de la tolérance à l’incertitude comme facteurs transdiagnostiques de l’anxiété, et suggèrent que la sensibilité à l’anxiété serait un mécanisme explicatif de l’association entre ces composantes et l’anxiété.
