Abstract
GSA; Then & Now Online 7.5.–6.6.2020 \n \nAn online exhibition of works by Glasgow School of Art graduates from Environmental Art 1985–90 and MFA 1990–2006. \n \nCurated and produced by Sam Ainsley, former Head of MFA, Glasgow School of Art and Fanni Niemi-Junkola, Team leader FA, D.P. in Media and Arts, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Finland. \n \nEach artist was invited to submit an image of a work produced during their time at GSA as well as an image of a more recent work. \n \nIMAGE 1: \nTitle: BETWEEN HERE AND THERE \nSize: 55cm x 38cm \nDate: 1995 \nMaterials: Irish News newspaper, glass rod \nPhoto credit: Simon Starling \n \nIn September 1995, whilst on the MFA at Glasgow School of Art, I went to the Art Institute of Chicago on a 4mt exchange. One of the first things I was given on arrival in Chicago was a street map of the city. One of the few things I had with me from home was a copy of the Irish News newspaper, dated Saturday September 2nd 1995. On 31stJanuary 2020 I marked what was Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland’s last day in the European Union, by sitting on the Scottish / English border at Scots’ Dike.
