"Las hembras de Cryphiops caementarius se concentran en la desembocadura de los ríos para reproducirse y soporta variaciones de salinidad, entre otros factores. El objetivo fue determinar la variación de los hemocitos totales y de la concentración de oxihemocianina de la hemolinfa en hembras de C. caementarius criadas en diferentes salinidades. Los camarones de 5,63 g y 5,72 cm fueron distribuidos en ocho acuarios y mantenidos durante 30 días en agua con salinidades de 0, 6, 12 y 18‰, alimentados con balanceado dos veces al día con el 2% de la biomasa. Los análisis se realizaron de la hemolinfa, extraída del seno pericárdico. El número total de hemocitos y la concentración de oxihemocianina fueron significativamente (P<0,05) mayores en las hembras criadas a 12‰ de salinidad (207,50 x 105 ± 38,89 x105 células mL-1; 5,619 ± 4,735 mmol L-1) en relación con las criadas en 6‰ (106,00 x 105 ± 64,12 x 105 células mL-1; 0,518 ± 0,159 mmol L-1) y a 0‰ (73,75 x 105 ± 25,37 x 105 células mL-1; 0,228 ± 0,237 mmol L-1). En salinidad de 18‰ todos los camarones murieron a los 8 días; en cambio la supervivencia en 12‰ fue de 25%, y en 6‰ y 0‰ fue de 66,7% y 58,3%, respectivamente. El incremento de la salinidad del agua inducen a un incremento del número total de hemocito y de la concentración de oxihemocianina; sin embargo, en alta salinidad la supervivencia fue baja y esto indica situaciones de estrés."
