Étudier différentes approches du mythe, les traitements que lui réservent les écrivains, et la réactualisation des mythes sont utiles pour la compréhension du monde contemporain. L'homme a trouvé dans le mythe et dans le recours au sacré un instrument extraordinaire d'expression de son imaginaire symbolique pour pouvoir répondre aux questions essentielles de son existence et de l'existence du monde et de l'univers. Ces questions sont liées à la nature, à la vie, à la mort et aux mystères du monde de l'au-delà.
\nLe problème de l'origine et de la création du monde est omniprésent dans la création humaine et, malgré les recherches continuelles, ce problème persiste.
\nD'après le processus (pré)établi de notre existence, l'origine et la création se poursuivent comme errance, quête, recherche. La vie humaine privée de sa quête existentielle serait une vie illusoire. 
\nLa problématique de cette recherche est la suivante: comment le mythe, issu d'un temps et d'un monde anciens, peut-il ressurgir dans la jeune littérature québécoise, qui, à première vue, est très éloignée de la culture grecque antique? Et quelles caractéristiques peuvent posséder les personnages dans les romans québécois ? Autrement dit, comment ces personnages peuvent-ils être semblables aux héros de la mythologie grecque?
