Ce mémoire a pour objectif de mieux cerner le rôle de la planification urbaine dans la transformation des interfaces ville-industrie au sein des villes-usines non planifiées, c’est-à-dire les villes nées de l’activité industrielle, sans démarche de planification précise, où habitat et lieux de production sont imbriqués (Edelblutte, 2020). À partir d’une analyse des processus morphologiques mis en parallèle avec une analyse des documents de planification, la recherche expose la formation et la transformation du secteur d'Assomption Sud-Longue-Pointe à Montréal, caractérisé par la présence de nombreuses interfaces existantes entre ses milieux résidentiels enclavés et en relation directe avec plusieurs secteurs industriels. Cet héritage industriel pose la question des actions planifiées effectuées par les acteurs de l’aménagement et de la problématique d'une cohabitation plus harmonieuse entre habitat et activités industrielles. Ce cas paradigmatique de ville-usine non planifiée fait ainsi état de l’évolution des discours urbanistiques en regard de la proximité ville-industrie et de leur incidence sur la transformation de la forme urbaine dans leur manière d’appréhender la gestion de cette cohabitation complexe. Tantôt dispositifs de mise à distance, tantôt dispositifs d’intégration urbaine, la caractérisation des interfaces et de leurs zones tampons permet en somme d’asseoir l’importance de la dimension urbanistique et de design urbain dans la définition de ce que pourrait être la ville productive de demain. \n_____________________________________________________________________________ \nMOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Planification urbaine, morphologie urbaine, morphogénèse, interface ville-industrie, cohabitation, zone tampon, conflits d’usage, discontinuités spatiales.
