L'objet de recherche est le processus d'incubation et ses résultats attendus sur différentes dimensions du développement local, qui sont la création d'emplois, le développement de l'entrepreneuriat et le développement d'entreprises. Plus précisément, les objectifs de recherche consistent à dégager des leçons comparatives entre les trois cas, à faire émerger les tendances lourdes ainsi que les apprentissages qui vont contribuer à améliorer le processus d'incubation au Québec et au Brésil et à évaluer si l'incubateur contribue au développement d'une communauté. La stratégie de l'étude multicas de R. K. Yin a été employée pour répondre aux objectifs de recherche. Un de ces cas, celui d'INCUBACOOP à Recife, a constitué le cas pilote qui a permis de conceptualiser un modèle de gestion d'incubateurs de coopératives. Ce nouveau modèle a été appliqué à l'étude des deux autres cas, qui ont permis de le perfectionner, de le rendre applicable aux trois régions à l'étude et d'améliorer ses perspectives de transférabilité. En retour, le modèle de gestion d'incubateurs de coopératives a permis d'évaluer les forces et les faiblesses de chaque cas, en rapport aux dimensions et processus étudiés.--Résumé abrégé par UMI.
