The chapter 'Introduction' (chapter 3) starts with a definition of the scientific areas of 'Information Systems', 'Neuro-Information Systems', 'Neuroscience' and 'Neurology' in order to define the scope of this dissertation.'Neuro-Information Systems' will be described in more detail, emphasizing on historical development, main research areas, and methods, as it constitutes the subject of this doctoral thesis.Chapter 4 includes all published articles of the dissertation in chronological order (see Table 1).The fifth chapter discusses the main contribution of each paper and offers a synthesis of how these individual contributions play together in order to advance the field of 'Neuro-Information Systems'.The dissertation finally includes my curriculum vitae as the final chapter.In order to enhance reading, literature references are included within each chapter.
