Abstract
Tout le monde parle aujourd’hui de biodiversité, mais le terme n’existe que depuis 1988, quand il a remplacé ' diversité biologique '. De nombreux sujets agitent ce domaine, donnant lieu à débats et controverses : droits de la propriété intellectuelle, conservation génétique, rôle de l’industrie, droit des agriculteurs, participation de la société civile…\n\nTous ces sujets sont traités dans ' Le Débat des semences ' qui rassemble les discussions passionnées d’un groupe de 45 personnalités de 25 pays, issues d’universités, des secteurs public et privé, et d’organisations de la société civile. Ce document fournit au lecteur une mise à jour des changements politiques, scientifiques et environnementaux intervenus depuis la publication en 1994 de son prédécesseur, ' Un Brevet pour la vie '. Quand les échanges ont abouti à des accords, ceux-ci sont présentés comme des recommandations politiques, et les sujets donnant lieu à controverses sont également franchement reconnus.
