Abstract
The Weak Force is an international collaboration between artists Matthew Sansom (UK), Andy Thomson (NZ), Paul Cullen (NZ), Chris Braddock (NZ), Eugene Hansen (NZ), Laresa Ksoloff (Aus), Bruce Barber (Canada), and Kim Morgan (Can). It is part of 'Unified Field Theory', a larger arts research project based at Auckland University of Technology. This is the fifth collaborative project associated with the UFT (Unified Field Theory) which is an Aukland University of Technology (NZ) Art Research project. The aim of the project is to locate and represent the social and relational as the internal generative dynamic of a collaborative creative work. UFT is an international collaborative arts project that explores how artists work together and why? It examines to what extent an idea is separable from its specific material expression? And what latitude is possible for its material expression (and presentation) to constitute an authentic expression of the idea? Through collaboration with others it is hoped to make palpable the exchange between cultures and its representations - where up and down, east and west, before and after, distance, proximity, language, matter, interpretation and perception are all means and measures of negotiating a relationship to gravity's space-time. The UFT project is without cultural borders and occupies a research field encompassing the globe and infinite possibilities of contemporary practice.
