O impacto de um Programa de Reabilitação Neuropsicológico Grupal nos Aspetos emocionais e afetivos em idosos institucionalizados com Declínio Cognitivo Sem Demência

Abstract
Contexto: Atualmente, o índice do envelhecimento tem vindo a aumentar e, como consequência, estima-se que venham a triplicar os casos de demência. A incapacidade dos cuidadores perante a existência de sintomas demenciais e a perda de autonomia dos idosos são as razões mais comuns de institucionalização. Não existindo uma cura para esta doença e pelo facto do tratamento passar por aliviar sintomas cognitivos e comportamentais através de técnicas terapêuticas de reabilitação, entre outras, é importante estudar meios para amenizar as consequências desta doença. O PRNG é composto por atividades terapêuticas em grupo que estimulam as relações interpessoais, preservam o estado físico e psicológico e conduzem a um aumento da qualidade de vida dos idosos, sendo que os estados demenciais podem proporcionar uma alteração negativa nas dimensões emocionais e afetivas. \nObjetivos: Esta investigação debruça-se no impacto de um Programa de Reabilitação Neuropsicológico Grupal (PRNG) em idosos institucionalizados com DCSD nos aspetos emocionais e afetivos. \nMetodologia: A amostra foi constituída por 42 idosos, entre os 66 e os 92 anos, dividida em dois grupos em que 23 idosos foram submetidos ao PRNG (Grupo Experimental) e 19 idosos não foram submetidos ao programa (Grupo de Comparação). O estudo foi quase- experimental e não-cego na reavaliação. As dez sessões tiveram uma duração de 90 minutos, duas vezes por semana, num grupo de cinco idosos. Foram avaliados pré e pós intervenção, através da Avaliação Cognitiva de Montreal (MoCA), da Avaliação Breve do Estado Mental (MMSE), do Inventário de Ansiedade Geriátrica (GAI) da Escala da Depressão Geriátrica (GDS), da Escala de Satisfação com a Vida (SWLS), da Escala de afetos positivos e negativos (PANAS) e da Escala da Solidão (UCLA). \nResultados: A comparação pré e pós PRNG não revelaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas ao nível dos sintomas de ansiedade (GAI), da sintomatologia depressiva (GDS), dos sentimentos de satisfação com a vida (SWLS), dos afetos positivos e negativos (PANAS), exceto nos sentimentos de solidão (UCLA). \nConclusão: Concluímos que o Programa de Reabilitação Neuropsicológico Grupal teve impacto em idosos institucionalizados estabilizando/retardando as capacidades cognitivas, na redução dos sentimentos depressivos, nos sentimentos de solidão e no aumento dos afetos positivos. || Context: Currently, the rate of aging is increasing and as a consequence, it is estimated that may triple dementia cases. The inability of caregivers by the existence of dementia symptoms and the loss of autonomy of the elderly people are the most common reasons for institutionalization. There no cure for dementia and the fact that treatment pass to alleviate cognitive and behavioral symptoms through therapeutic rehabilitation techniques, and others, it is important to look ways to reduction the consequences of this disease. The NRGP used is composed of therapeutic group activities that stimulate interpersonal relationships, preserve the physical and psychological state and lead to increased quality of life for elderly people, dementia states may provide a negative change in emotional and affective functiongs. \nObjectives: This study investigated the impact of a Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Group Program (NRGP) in institutionalized elderly with DCSD in emotional and affective functioning. \nMethodology: The sample was composed of 42 elderly peolpe, with ages between 66 and 92 years, and was divided into two groups, where 23 elderly people were submitted to the PRNG (Experimental Group) and 19 were not submitted to the program (Control Group). The study was quasi-experimental and non-blind at reavaluation. The ten sessions had duration of 90 minutes twice a week, in group of five elderly people. The pre and post intervention were evaluated by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), the Brief Assessment of Mental State Examination (MMSE) , the Geriatric Anxiety Inventory (GAI), the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), the Scale of Satisfaction with Life (SWLS), the Positive and Negative Schedule Affect (PANAS) and the Loneliness Scale (UCLA) . \nResults: The pre and post PRNG comparison revealed no statistically significant differences in the symptoms of anxiety (GAI), depressive symptoms (GDS), feelings of satisfaction with life (SWLS), positive and negative affections (PANAS), except in feelings of loneliness (UCLA). \nConclusion: The Program of Rehabilitation Neuropsychological Grupal had impacted the in the institutionalized elderly people stabilizing/slowing the cognitive skills, reduction of depressive feelings, the feelings of loneliness and increased the positive affect. \nKeywords: Cognitive Impairment without Dementia, Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Group, Depression, Anxiety, Satisfaction of Life, Positive and Negative Affects and Loneliness.
