[Resumen] Introducción: El “Retraso psicomotor” es un diagnóstico temporal que consiste en una coordinación motora por debajo de las expectativas para la edad cronológica del niño, la cual, si se instaura en el tiempo, puede derivar, en niños mayores de 3-5 años, en “Trastorno del Desarrollo de la Coordinación” (TDC). El Retraso/Trastorno del desarrollo de la coordinación tiene una prevalencia del 5-6%, afectando más a los varones con una proporción de 2:1. El TDC se combina con diversas dificultades de emocionales, sociales y específicas del aprendizaje, siendo por tanto, un trastorno crónico que interfiere significativamente en el rendimiento académico y/o las actividades de vida diaria. En el Servicio de Rehabilitación del Hospital Universitario Materno Infantil de Gran Canaria se realiza el tratamiento de fisioterapia de los pacientes afectados de Retraso Psicomotor como prevención del TDC. Objetivo: Determinar la efectividad del tratamiento fisioterápico, llevado a cabo en el Hospital Universitario Materno Infantil de Gran Canaria, en los bebés menores de 18 meses con diagnóstico de Retraso Psicomotor. Metología: Estudio quasiexperimental en 64 niños menores de 18 meses diagnosticados de Retraso Psicomotor que acuden a tratamiento fisioterápico, previa aprobación del Comité Ético del Hospital y consentimiento informado de los padres o tutores. Se llevará a cabo, una recogida de datos, la escala Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS) y el test autoadministrado para padres Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) al inicio y a los 3 y 6 meses de tratamiento para su posterior análisis comparativo. Los datos extraídos serán procesados estadísticamente, realizándose un análisis descriptivo y un análisis de regresión multivariante. Los resultados obtenidos serán publicados en revistas indizadas en el Journal Citations Report y presentados en congresos de fisioterapia y rehabilitación.
