Abstract
Ébloui par la maîtrise d’un danseur de flamenco dont il croise la route alors que ses propres performances connaissent un succès sans faille, le jongleur Francis Brunn décide de repenser ses enchaînements et sa gestuelle en leur insufflant une puissance nouvelle, parfaitement contrôlée. Il dissèque et revisite son jeu, ménageant des effets qui ne laissent rien à l’improvisation, pour guider le public dans son interprétation du mouvement de la balle ou de celui du jongleur. Il se révèle désormais résolument engagé dans la recherche d’une subtile fusion entre prouesse technique et préoccupation esthétique. Le choix d’une partenaire adroite et totalement concentrée sur le tempo de la séquence est essentiel. À ses débuts, entre 1939 et 1948, il partage la scène avec sa sœur Lottie , qui poursuit ensuite son propre chemin. Sa longue collaboration avec la danseuse américaine Nathalie Enterline , époustouflante jongleuse au twirling bâton qu’il rencontre à Montréal en 1980, lui insuffle une nouvelle énergie. Il est accompagné dans l’émission de Jack Benny par Alejandra Clavoïa Malomusch qu’il rencontre lors d’une saison au Grand Théâtre de Buenos Aires en 1956 et qu’il épouse.
