Kaupunki ja kaupunkilaisuus konserttitilakeskustelussa : diskursiivinen analyysi maakuntalehden mielipideaineistosta vuosilta 2003 ja 2010

Abstract
Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin Jyväskylän konserttitalosta käytyä julkista keskustelua. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli eritellä konserttitaloon liitettyjä kulttuurisia merkityksiä kriittistä diskurssianalyysia soveltaen. Tutkimuskohdetta lähestyttiin kulttuurintutkimuksen viitekehyksessä hyödyntäen muun muassa maantieteen peruskäsitteistöä (tila, paikka), suomalaista mediatutkimusta ja kulttuuripolitiikan tutkimusta. Aineisto koostui maakuntalehti Keskisuomalaisen mielipideaineistosta vuosilta 2003 ja 2010. Analyysin kohteena oli yhteensä 26 tekstiyksikköä. Päätehtävä oli selvittää, miten konserttitalo rakentuu keskustelussa. Aineistosta hahmotettiin neljä konserttitaloa merkityksellistävää ulottuvuutta, jotka nimettiin luottavaksi, epäileväksi, vaalivaksi ja poissulkevaksi diskurssiksi. Diskurssit jaettiin kaupungin ja kaupunkilaisuuden teemoihin niin, että luottavassa ja epäilevässä diskurssissa katsottiin painotettavan kollektiivista kaupungin ja vaalivassa ja poissulkevassa diskurssissa individualistista kaupunkilaisuuden näkökulmaa. Konserttitaloon liitetyt kulttuuriset merkitykset jäsentyivät pääpiirteisesti joko melko selkeästi julkiseksi kulttuuripalveluinstituutioksi, epämääräisemmin hahmottuvaksi markkinoiden tuottamaksi kulttuurihyödykkeeksi tai näiden sekoitukseksi.
