Abstract
Opinnäytetyö tehtiin Vantaan kaupungin ehkäisevän päihdetyön yksikölle. Tavoitteena oli tuottaa kehittämisehdotuksia kyseisen yksikön käyttöön ja selvittää, millä tavalla päihteet vaikuttavat vantaalaisten turvallisuudentunteeseen. Tarkoituksena oli, että ehkäisevän päihdetyön yksikkö pääsee työssään hyödyntämään opinnäytetyön tuloksia. Kvalitatiivisen tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli vastata tutkimuskysymyksiin: millä tavalla päihtyneiden henkilöiden käyttäytyminen heikentää kuntalaisten turvallisuudentunnetta Vantaalla, millaisissa tilanteissa vantaalaiset ovat olleet huolissaan läheistensä alkoholinkäytöstä ja mitä kehittämisehdotuksia vantaalaisilla on päihdehaittojen ehkäisemiseksi. \n \nOpinnäytetyössä perehdyttiin neljän eri-ikäisen vantaalaisen kokemuksiin päihteiden aiheuttamista ongelmista ja pyrittiin saamaan kehittämisehdotuksia päihdetyöhön. \nTutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys sisältää tieteellistä tietoa tutkimuskysymyksiin liittyvistä aiheista; päihteiden aiheuttamat ongelmat Suomessa, päihdetyö ja turvallisuudentunne. Haastateltavat henkilöt rekrytoitiin Vantaan päihdetilannekyselyn 2018 vastaajien joukosta. Haastattelut olivat puolistrukturoituja teemahaastatteluja. Saatujen tulosten mukaan tärkeimmiksi kehittämiskohteiksi nousivat aikainen puuttuminen päihdeongelmaan ja uudenlaisten valistuskeinojen löytäminen päihteiden haitoista kertomiseen. Moni haastatelluista koki, että yhteistyötä tulisi kehittää eri hoitotahojen välillä.
