L'éducation culturelle et historique anglophone (arts, fêtes, coutumes, croyances, religion, traditions, événements historiques, musique, etc.) permet de comprendre et d'apprécier davantage ce qui entoure les jeunes d'aujourd'hui. Toutefois, les élèves n'apprennent pas, ou que très peu, cette culture en classe, car les cahiers et les manuels utilisés ne reflètent pas la réalité de la vie anglophone. Donc, nul n'apprend tout à fait ce qui fait vivre une langue, soit son histoire, les événements d'actualité ou les célébrations qui sont traditionnellement reliés aux anglophones de par le monde et ici, au Canada. Ainsi, notre recherche se concentre sur la définition du mot culture, sur le rôle de l’enseignant, sur les exigences du programme, sur les besoins informatifs culturels des enseignants (pour leur procurer un nouvel outil), et ce, dans le but de conserver ou augmenter l'intérêt de nos élèves envers l'ALS. Notre outil pédagogique est destiné aux enseignants et non aux élèves. Nous avons créé un site web ayant un menu interactif à plusieurs sous niveaux (Arts, Customs and Beliefs, Geography and History, Linguistics, Traditions and Lifestyles). Ainsi, l’enseignant désirant créer une SAÉ (Situation d’apprentissage et d’évaluation) sur un sujet culturel en particulier, retrouvera son sujet sous forme de suggestions de livres, de site Internet et de documentaires. Nous voulons refléter une idée générale (et non détaillée) des pays anglophones qui nous influencent : Angleterre, Australie, Canada, Écosse, États-Unis et Irlande.
