Abstract
A presente investigação teve como objectivos principais: (1) alcançar uma compreensão do sujeito afectado pelo cancro colo-rectal, seguindo uma abordagem psicossomática. Por um lado procura-se compreender se as características do sujeito constituem um factor de vulnerabilidade psicossomática e por outro, visou-se perceber, atendendo à história de vida e características do sujeito, o seu modo de reacção face à doença e suas implicações; (2) Explorar, através de um estudo de caso, a relação médico-doente e o seu efeito no doente e na doença. Assim visamos perceber a influência das características do médico no modo como o doente vive a doença e seu tratamento. Os instrumentos utilizados foram a Entrevista Clínica, a prova projectiva Rorschach e a Escala de Alexitimia de Toronto (TAS 20). A reflexão feita e os resultados obtidos, permitiram-nos aceder à complexidade da relação médico-doente e sua influência na vivência do cancro, uma vez que a ausência de empatia entre estes dois actores parecem perturbar a atitude do sujeito face à doença e face ao tratamento. Para além disso verificamos que perante uma identidade psicossomática, a vivência do cancro pauta-se pela hiperadaptação a não contestação, tal como vive noutros contextos vivenciais.
