En la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos se atienden pacientes críticos, propensos a sufrir una parada cardiorrespiratoria, la cual ocurre de manera repentina, cesando la función respiratoria y circulatoria, ocasionando daños irreversibles. Para ello, se debe actuar rápidamente realizando una reanimación cardiopulmonar (RCP), responsabilidad que le compete al profesional de enfermería ya que son los más cercanos al paciente. Una RCP exitosa dependerá de cuán eficaz y competente es el profesional que lo realiza. Sin embargo, no todos están en las condiciones de realizarlo. Es así que se planteó esta investigación, con el fin de identificar cómo son los conocimientos sobre reanimación cardiopulmonar de los profesionales de enfermería de una Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos; es una Investigación Secundaria, la misma que utilizó la metodología de la Investigación Basada en Evidencia, se tomaron 17 artículos científicos concernientes al objeto de estudio, fueron buscados en múltiples bases de datos científicos, \ncomo: Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, Epistemonikos, Google académico, PubMed, Scielo. Es un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, tratada con la lista de chequeo de Astete, el nivel de evidencia III se clasificó con la Canadian Task Force on Preventive Healt Care (CTFPHC), con grado de recomendación B, teniendo como objetivo evaluar el conocimiento de los profesionales de enfermería sobre el cuidado del paciente en paro cardíaco (PCR). Concluyendo que la mayor parte de los participantes demuestran conocimiento y preparación pero no en su totalidad, por lo que se observa la importancia de la educación continua para con este tema.
