El presente estudio titulado “Alexitimia e Intencionalidad Suicida en estudiantes de Psicología de una universidad privada de Trujillo”, analiza la relación entre las variables mencionadas. Investigación de tipo sustantiva y diseño descriptivo - correlacional, se realizó con una población integrada por 172 estudiantes, de donde se obtuvo una muestra probabilística de tipo aleatoria simple constituida por 120 estudiantes; para el recojo de los datos se utilizó dos instrumentos: la Escala de Alexitimia de Toronto (TAS - 20) de Taylor et al. (1985) y la Escala de Intencionalidad Suicida de Beck et al. (1974). Los resultados dan cuenta que existe correlación altamente significativa, directa y de tamaño mediano entre Alexitimia e Intencionalidad Suicida en los alumnos estudiados que conformaron la muestra. En los resultados descriptivos se encuentran que los estudiantes de la muestra se ubican en un mayor porcentaje en el nivel medio con 75% y en Intencionalidad Suicida predomina el nivel bajo con 59%. Se concluye: que aquellos estudiantes que tienen dificultad para identificar y describir sus propios sentimientos, y pensar excesivamente en lo externo restringiendo el proceso imaginativo, anhelan con acabar con su vida.
