L'asthme est un véritable problème de santé publique. L'environnement, l'évolution des mentalités et la prise en charge des maladies chroniques font que l'éducation thérapeutique apparaît comme la principale solution à une bonne prise en charge du patient asthmatique. Dans la première partie de ce travail nous avons défini l'éducation thérapeutique et développé les grands principes du modèle éducatif. Dans la seconde partie nous nous sommes penchés sur le programme éducatif du réseau Québécois et l'expérience de la Nouvelle Zélande. En France des Ecoles de l'Asthme se sont développées et nous avons étudié 4 Ecoles en pratique. Dans la troisième partie nous avons proposé des solutions pour mettre en place une Ecole de l'Asthme en pédiatrie au CHU de Grenoble, en tenant compte de l'expérience des 4 autres Ecoles. Nous avons essayé de répondre à 2 problèmes principaux rencontrés par ces Ecoles que sont le problème de recrutement des enfants et le manque d'évaluation.
