Abstract
Zeitungsredaktionen müssen sich in einem gewachsenen Wettbewerbsumfeld – gerade das Internet ist ein wichtiger Konkurrent – verstärkt an den Wünschen und Bedürfnissen ihres Publikums ausrichten, wollen sie im Kampf um Aufmerksamkeit erfolgreich bleiben. Daher ziehen die Verlage mittlerweile häufig Erkenntnisse der Publikumsforschung heran, die ihnen Orientierung geben sollen. Die Studie untersucht im Rahmen einer qualitativen Kommunikatorbefragung in ausgewählten Redaktionen deutscher Regionalzeitungen am Beispiel des Marktforschungsinstruments ReaderScans, wie hier mit den Erkenntnissen der Publikumsforschung umgegangen wird. Vor einem systemtheoretischen Hintergrund wird dabei untersucht, inwieweit die ReaderScan-Ergebnisse zu Veränderungen auf der Ebene der journalistischen Organisationen, Programmen und Rollen im autonomen Sozialsystem Journalismus führen und wie diese von den journalistischen Akteuren bewertet werden – vor allem ob sie Autonomie und Qualität gefährdet sehen.
