Le capital psychologique ou capsy est un concept ayant émergé dans la littérature au début des années 2000. Ce construit, intimement lié à la psychologie positive, regroupe quatre dimensions soit l’efficacité personnelle, l’optimisme, l’espoir, la résilience. Selon certaines recherches le capsy est légèrement moins stable que la personnalité (Luthans et Youssef, 2007) et peut être associé à des comportements et attitudes positives au travail (Avey, Reichard, Luthans, & Mhatre, 2011; Luthans, Avolio, Avey, & Norman, 2007; Luthans, Avolio, Walumbwa, & Li, 2005; Peterson, Luthans, Avolio, Walumbwa, & Zhang, 2011). Cette recherche vise à ajouter le capital psychologique à la personnalité dans le but de prédire certaines dimensions de l’efficacité au travail, soit les comportements contreproductifs au travail (CAT) et comportements de citoyenneté organisationnelle (CCO). Des régressions linéaires hiérarchiques, effectuées sur un échantillon de convenance constitué de travailleurs québécois, ont permis de constater que, parmi les quatre dimensions du capsy, seule la dimension optimisme permet de prédire significativement les CCO et les CAAT. De plus, lorsque combinée à la personnalité, la dimension optimisme du capsy permet d’améliorer la prédiction des CCO de 14 % et celle des CAAT de 4 %. Ces résultats portent à croire qu’il pourrait y avoir une valeur ajoutée, pour une organisation, à mesurer et travailler à améliorer le capsy de ses employés. Cette recherche comporte certaines limites et d’autres recherches seront nécessaires afin de préciser la relation entre le capsy et les CCO et les CAAT.
