Abstract
In deze scriptie wordt de reactie van het Nederlandse film- en bioscoopbedrijf besproken op de Nederlandse neutraliteitspolitiek in de eerste maanden van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, vanaf september 1939 tot december 1939. Tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog had het Nederlandse film- en bioscoopbedrijf kunnen profiteren van de aspecten van de Nederlandse neutraliteitspolitiek. Omdat het waarschijnlijk was dat er nog steeds ondernemers actief waren die de Eerste Wereldoorlog hadden meegemaakt, is het interessant om te onderzoeken hoe er werd gereageerd op het uitbreken van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De reactie van het Nederlandse film- en bioscoopbedrijf is onderzocht aan de hand van een historisch bronnenonderzoek van contemporaine Nederlandse filmvakbladen, namelijk het Nieuwe weekblad voor de cinematografie en het Officieel orgaan van den Nederlandschen Bioscoop-bond. Er wordt beargumenteerd dat individuele ondernemers om verschillende reden in staat waren om beter op te treden tegen de veranderingen, en dat de NBB een meer afwachtende houding had ten overstaande van de veranderingen. Ook wordt aangetoond dat een NBB minder dominante invloed had op het Nederlandse film- en bioscoopbedrijf dan wat normaal gesproken wordt aangenomen in de bestaande literatuur. Tot slot lijken ondernemersstrategieën binnen het film- en bioscoopbedrijf onderhevig aan ervaringen uit het verleden. Op basis van resultaten uit dit onderzoek wordt geadviseerd om zaken als geschiedenis te betrekken in de analyse van ondernemersstrategieën
