Denne avhandlingen undersøker hvordan sannhet og forsoning gjøres ved NTNU gjennom en rammeanalyse av ansatte med kunnskap om samiske forhold. Avhandlingen bygger videre på Sannhets- og forsoningskommisjonens (2023) tiltak for forsoning hvor høyere utdanning ses på som en sentral institusjon for å oppnå sannhet og forsoning i Norge. I tillegg til problemstillingen hvordan gjøres sannhet og forsoning ved NTNU? stiller avhandlingen også disse spørsmålene: hvorfor er aktive handlinger betydelig for sannhet og forsoning ved NTNU? og hvordan kan NTNU bidra til sannhet og forsoning? Her forsøker avhandlingen og ikke bare å kritisere strukturene, men også visualisere alternative løsninger. \n\nSituert fra et urbefolkningsperspektiv baserer denne avhandlingen seg på syv semistrukturerte intervjuer av ansatte ved NTNU med kunnskap om samiske forhold. Datamaterialet inneholder perspektiver fra både ansatte med og uten samisk tilhørighet, og viser en bredde i hvordan vi kan forholde oss til sannhet og forsoning fra flere ståsteder. Materialet analyseres ved hjelp av begreper fra Goffmans (1974) rammeanalyse, og bygger på teoriene epistemisk ignoranse og gavens logikk fra Spivak (1988) og Kuokkanen (2010; 2008; 2007). I tillegg trekker avhandlingen inspirasjon fra Canada gjennom tidligere forskning på sannhet og forsoning ved universiteter i etterkant av en sannhets- og forsoningsrapport (TRC, 2015). \n\nAvhandlingen diskuterer hvordan NTNU som institusjon ignorerer det samiske episteme og forhindrer en gjensidig forsoningsprosess. Analysen finner at sannhet og forsoning gjøres av små miljøer innad NTNU hvor det samiske episteme synliggjøres gjennom undervisning, forskning og i media. Disse miljøene spiller en aktiv rolle og bidrar til kunnskapsheving om samiske forhold og synliggjøring av det samiske episteme som er helt grunnleggende for en forsoningsprosess. Avhandlingen konkluderer med at NTNU kan bidra til sannhet og forsoning ved å anerkjenne det samiske episteme og gavens logikk. Gjensidighet er grunnleggende for å snakke om sannhet og forsoning ved NTNU, dermed må universitetet anerkjenne et ansvar overfor det samiske episteme, dekolonialisere egne strukturer, og bidra til en indigenisering av akademia.
