Opettajuus kansalaisopistossa - autoetnogafinen tutkimus opettajuuden rakenteista Rovaniemen kansalaisopistoissa

Abstract
Tutkimuksen tehtävänä oli selvittää, minkälaisena opettajuus näyttäytyy kansalaisopistossa. Lähdin etsimään kysymykseen vastausta rakenteellisten kontekstien analyysin kautta eli tutkimalla, miltä opettajuus näyttäytyy toimijoiden, tilanteiden, tilojen ja välineistön sekä ajan näkökulmasta kansalaisopistolle erityisessä ympäristössä. Tutkimus on tehty autoetnografista tutkimusotteella, joka mahdollistaa tutkijan omien mahdollistaa kokemusten käytön tutkimusaineistona. Tutkimusaineistona käytin maaliskuun 2019 ja tammikuun 2020 välisenä aikana kirjoittamaani työpäiväkirjaa. Olen työskennellyt musiikin tuntiopettajana Rovaniemen kaupungin kansalaisopistoissa kuin Rovalan Setlementti ry:n kansalaisopistossa määräaikaisissa työsuhteissa syksystä 2014 alkaen opettaen pianonsoittoa ja lauluryhmiä. Päiväkirjakirjoittamisen aikaan opetin kansalaisopistoissa yhteensä noin 12 tuntia viikossa. \n \nKansalaisopisto on jokaisessa Suomen kunnassa toimiva lakiin perustuva koulutusinstituutti, joka tarjoaa matalan kynnyksen koulutusta kaikille ikä- ja ihmisryhmille. Kansalaisopistoissa työskentelee paljon eri alan opettajia, varsinkin eri pituisissa määräaikaisissa työsuhteissa. Tuntiopettajien lukumääräksi on arvioitu 25 000-30 000 henkilöä. Kansalaisopisto-opettajien suuresta määrästä huolimatta, opettajuutta kansalaisopistossa on tutkittu vain vähän. Työn ja organisaation luonteen vuoksi se eroaa myös peruskouluopettajuudesta tai ammattiopettajan opettajuudesta. \n \nTutkimukseni keskeinen tulos on, että opettajuus kytkeytyy opettajaan yksilöllisenä ruumiillisena ihmisenä, hänen ammattitaitoonsa ja organisaatioon. Kokemus opettajuudesta on näin yksilöllinen, mikä muodostuu suhteessa opettajan elämäntilanteeseen ja organisaatioon, ja sitä kautta myös yhteiskuntaan.
